Les Jardins de l'écoumène are pleased to announce that it is now possible to obtain a line of the Red Robin Tomato exclusively on its online store.

About ten years ago, Martin Lejardinier, well known for his numerous YouTube clips on indoor gardening, obtained from Peru of tomato seedss of the variety Red Robin.

According to sources, it originated from England to USA, but we know that it was cultivated in the 19e century. Since then, by choosing the most compact and productive plants, he has obtained the Red Robin tomato, lineage of Martin Lejardinier. The stability of the cross makes it an open-pollinated cultivar.

Indoors, for good yields, it is best to grow Red Robin tomato, lineage of Martin Lejardinier under fluorescent tubes or LED or even under lamps with sodium.

This variety compact et determined does not measure more than 30 cm high and wide, and it produces numerous Cherry tomatoes scarlet. The juicy, thin-skinned fruits taste both sweet and tart.

Coming from plants that have always been grown indoors, this variety is particularly suited to these conditions. However, it is possible to grow it outdoors.

Very resistant to disease, Red Robin tomato, line of Martin Lejardinier tolerates difficult growing conditions and does not require much care.

Due to its ease of cultivation, the Red Robin tomato, a line from Martin Lejardinier, is a must for beginners in indoor gardening.

Outside, the Red Robin tomato, line of Martin Lejardinier prefers pots or planters. In open ground, its small size must be taken into account when planning the vegetable garden.

Like all tomatoes, this variety requires:

  • Light: 16 to 18 hours
  • Temperature: 20 to 24°C
  • Watering: fresh soil, without excess
  • Substrate and fertilization: light and rich
  • Germination time: 3 to 7 days

This plant is grown in a pot of 15 to 30 cm in diameter. Pots measuring 23 cm in diameter containing 3 to 4 liters of potting soil are ideal if you don't want to water too often. A harvest is obtained after 70 to 90 days depending on the growing conditions.
