He participated in the third edition of Flore Laurentienne and the Flora of North America and Flore nordique du Québec et du Labrador projects. He published Discovering the North. Two and a half centuries of exploration of the northern flora of Quebec and Labrador (Multimondes, 2014).

Jacques Mathieu is professor emeritus at Laval University. His area of ​​expertise is the history of New France and multi-disciplinary studies. He has published around twenty volumes. In 2014, he received the Quebec Gérard-Morisset prize for his contribution to the knowledge of cultural heritage.
