Columbine William Guiness – Organic

Aquilegia vulgaris

4.49$

The William Guiness columbine is a beautiful perennial that blooms generously from its second year of cultivation. Its two-tone flowers, a deep mauve highlighted with black, add a refined touch to shady beds. It also makes an excellent cut flower: harvested when a third of the flowers are open on the stem, it offers a beautiful vase life of 6 to 8 days. Very popular with hummingbirds and butterflies, it attracts a beautiful diversity to the garden. The William Guiness columbine prefers partially shaded areas, with soft morning or late afternoon light.

Indoor sowing is ideally done 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost. However, it is strongly recommended to do a preliminary layering cold for 3 weeks. It is also possible to sow directly in the garden in the fall or very early in the spring to allow it to undergo natural stratification.

Due to a low germination rate (46%), we have doubled the number of seeds per packet.
