Seeds grown in an ecological and responsible manner by Akène, forest culture
Tick-trefoil (Desmodium canadense) is a perennial plant in the Fabaceae family known for its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen into the soil, thereby enriching it. This upright plant can grow to between 1 and 1,25 metres in height and is distinguished by its abundant, elongated terminal clusters of pink or pinkish-purple flowers, which bloom from July to August. Its pea-like flowers are highly attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators, making it an excellent choice for naturalistic or ecological gardens. Tick-trefoil thrives in well-drained soils, and is particularly suited to meadows, roadsides and sunny open areas.
Ecological roles
Tick-trefoil plays an important ecological role through its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen, which improves soil fertility and promotes the growth of surrounding plants. Its large pink flowers attract a variety of pollinators, including butterflies and hummingbirds, supporting local biodiversity. As a hardy perennial, it also helps stabilize soils, especially in prairies and natural areas where it can prevent erosion. Tick-trefoil is particularly useful in ecological restoration or sustainable gardening projects, where it not only provides a splash of color but also long-term benefits to soil and ecosystem health.
Desmodium seeds from Canada must undergo a cold lamination to ensure their germination.

Description
Sowing and cultivation
A 60-day cold stratification is necessary to ensure germination of Canada weedweed seeds.
Mix the seeds with a moist substrate (vermiculite, perlite or sand) and place them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for 60 days.
You can then sow the seeds 5 mm deep. Do not let the potting soil dry out during germination, which takes about 15 days.
The desmodia can adapt to several types of soil, but prefers cool or humid places.
