Miyama Rabiole – Organic
Brassicaceae brassica rapa Biennial
4.49$
Miyama turnip is an exceptional Japanese root, renowned for its crisp, white flesh and mild, slightly sweet flavor. Delicious both raw and cooked, it can be enjoyed grated or thinly sliced, seasoned with a drizzle of oil and lemon juice, or cooked for a melt-in-the-mouth texture with subtle aromas sometimes reminiscent of parsnips.
Considered one of the finest turnips in the world, Miyama is the result of decades of careful breeding by the renowned seed company Noguchi Seeds in Japan. Their goal: to develop a salad-style turnip with incomparable taste and texture. This labor of love has led to Miyama being recognized as a true local treasure, to the point that an annual festival is dedicated to it in its native region.
Generally speaking, white turnips are undemanding and fast-growing. They adapt well to a variety of soils and produce early harvests, ideal for spring and fall. Easy to grow, even for novice gardeners, they enrich the vegetable garden with their diversity and nutritional benefits, particularly fiber and vitamins.
Please note: if you receive a bag labeled White Rabiole, please note that it is indeed the Miyama variety. We have simply chosen, from this season onwards, to specify the name of the variety rather than using the generic name of the species, in order to better highlight its exceptional qualities.
