4.49$
Native to Mexico, the Piri-Piri pepper, also called bird's eye chili, was introduced to several countries by the Spanish conquistadors. Known as pili-pili in Bantu languages and piri-piri in Portugal, Angola and Brazil, it is a staple in the cuisines of sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean islands.
This variety of Capsicum frutescens produces small, erect, thin and pointed fruits, to be harvested when they are bright red. With a remarkable intensity of degree 9 or 10 on the Scoville scale, it rivals the most powerful peppers, such as cayenne pepper.
Ideal for enhancing sauces, rougails, grills or aromatic oils, it can be eaten fresh or dried and can even be used in the famous Mauritian chilli candies. No doubt it will please fans of hot peppers!
