Rutabaga is a vegetable plant related to the turnip that has long been called Siamese cabbage in Quebec. The 'Joan' variety is distinguished by the uniformity of its round, swollen root. The smooth-textured, sweet yellow flesh is superior in flavor to most rutabagas. In addition, the plant is very resistant to clubroot. This vegetable is particularly delicious in soups, stews and purees. Rutabaga is the result of the hybridization of a turnip and kale.
Number of days for harvest: 90 to 100
