Listen to your tomatoes

Your tomato plants are lush and several clusters, still green, will ripen slowly in the coming weeks. To guarantee quality fruit production, it is important to remain attentive to the signals sent by your exhausted plants.

Orange Jazz beefsteak tomato – Organic

Solanum lycopersicum

4.49$
3.82$

Fred Hempel of Green Bee Farm in California selected this open-pollinated variety. With the Jazz and Rainbow Jazz Heart varieties, she composes a series of tomatoes with an imposing beefsteak-type waistline.

Each flattened fruit weighs between 250 and 400 g. Their beautiful orange dress streaked with yellow hugs shallow ribs at shoulder level. The particularly juicy flesh has a remarkable flavor, sweet and complex, with accents of peach.

Long-lasting fruits are not prone to “cat face,” a malformation that results from too cool a temperature during flowering. However, we must watch for early blight and Septoria leaf spot infections caused by two fungi that appear most often in spring in humid weather.

The indeterminate plant grows vigorously and will need a good-sized, sturdy trellis, as the high yield of large fruits quickly weighs down the vines.

Number of days for harvest: 85
