Cosmos Japanese Kiiro – Organic

Cosmos sulphireus

4.19$

The delicate flowers of the cosmos act like a magnet on the bees who happily browse on them. Those of the Kiiro cultivar are no exception! The first flowers appear in July and continue until October. Their presence near tomato and pepper plants is a guarantee of assured pollination!

This variety introduced in 2019 seduces with very pale yellow flowers on the back of the peach-tinted petals which bloom at the end of stems up to 1,2 m high.

Cosmos is grown in the sun in light, well-drained soil of low to moderate fertility. In soils that are too rich, the stems lack tone and the flowers become rarer.

The species native to Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica spread across Japan from 17e century. It is now found in meadows and along banks, hence the name Japanese cosmos that is sometimes given to it.
