Seeds grown in an ecological and responsible manner by Akène, forest culture
Physostegia virginiana is a hardy native flower with lanceolate leaves topped with graceful lavender-colored inflorescences of late summer and early fall.
Physostegia spreads thanks to its rhizomes and can thus form large colonies in the right conditions. Appreciated by pollinators, it also attracts hummingbirds.
Physostegia seeds must undergo a cold lamination to ensure their germination. See the Description tab below for more details.

Description
Sowing and cultivation
Virginia grass seed requires cold stratification to germinate.
Mix the seeds with a moist substrate (vermiculite, perlite or sand) and place them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for 60 days.
You can then sow the seeds 5 mm deep. Do not let the soil dry out during germination, which will last 7 to 15 days.
You can also sow directly in the garden in the fall, stratification will then take place naturally outside.
Physostegia adapts to several types of soil but prefers rich and humid soils.
