The pretty flowers of Cosmos Sensation bloom in different shades of pink and white. A row of toothed petals (ray flowers) radiate around the yellow heart made up of fertile florets. These dapper, easy-to-grow flowers require little: ordinary, rather poor soil and a little water during extreme heatwaves. Be careful, very rich soils delay flowering by stimulating the growth of foliage. For better branching, pinch the ends of the stems when the plant is 15 cm high. The flowers bloom all summer and attract many beneficial insects such as pollinators, but also certain predators. For example, the green lacewing likes its white flowers. The larvae of this insect are very useful in biological control programs, because they feed on aphids, mealybugs and thrips.
